The elbows

Your elbows are tied to your body as follows: Put chains around your elbows with two metal rings attached to them. This gives a total of four rings attached to your elbows. Two rings will be connected by a chain around your chest. The other two rings will be connected by a chain behind your back. The combination of both chains ensures that your elbows are tied to your body.

Each of the elbow chains goes around the elbow twice, and each time it goes through both of its rings. It can be closed with a screwlink or a key ring. The chain should be put just above the elbow. When you do it for the first time, it is quite hard to put the elbow chains on their place, because you can use only one hand. After a couple of times it will be easier. You can use your mouth too. The rings should be big and thick, with a diameter of at least 4.5 centimeter. If the rings are not thick enough, the skin of your arms will get pinched between the chain and the rings, which hurts. They should be at least 7 mm thick. If your arms are sweaty, then wash them in advance. The elbow chain should be not too tight, to avoid circulation problems.

Serious Safety Remarks

The elbow chain can cause circulation problems to the hands, especially when it is cold in the room. When the blood circulation to your hands is impaired, they may be become numb, or weaker than usual. You may be unable to free yourself!

Even worse, you may be tempted to put the rings as shown on the second drawing below, in order to avoid that your skin gets pinched between the chain and the ring. Never do that! When there is a force on the rings, the other cycle will close and cut off the blood circulation to your hands completely. I tried this once with the keys lying next to me, and I could hardly escape. This is probably the most dangerous situation I've been in.

Below are the chains that I use. I have put a color mark at the position where I always close them, (not visible) so that I do not have to find out the right length all the time. The smaller rings are for the chest chain, the bigger rings are for the back chain.
